Okay, So What Is Remote4Me? 🤷‍♂️

Let's keep this simple. We're Rayan, Pavan and Jhon. We worked at the same company. Then the company decided to lay us off. Yep. That happened. We were college friends, ended up working together, and then suddenly found ourselves back in the job-hunting game. And honestly, job hunting sucks. There's really no nicer way to put it.

Remote4Me Team - Our last meal together on layoff day

300+ Applications Later, We Were Losing Our Shit 📝

After the layoff, Rayan started applying. And applying. And applying. 300+ companies. At some point, you stop counting because honestly, what the hell is the point? You send your resume. You fill out the same stupid forms. You answer the same damn questions. You click submit. And then... nothing.

Most companies ghosted. Some applications were probably killed by an ATS before a human even looked at them. And the ones that actually replied? Sometimes you got another ridiculous AI interview. You spend your time talking to a bot, answering questions, recording yourself, waiting... Then: "Unfortunately, we've decided to move forward with other candidates." Cool. Great. Another evening gone.

And the worst part wasn't even getting rejected. Rejection happens. Fine. You move on. It was putting in all that effort and getting absolutely nothing back. No explanation. No feedback. Sometimes not even an automated email. Just silence. After a while, that shit really starts getting to you.

After enough of this bullshit, Rayan basically said: "Why don't we build our own job portal?" And that's where Remote4Me started. We didn't build this because we love job portals. We built it because we needed one. We were tired of opening 20 tabs, searching the same damn websites, finding dead listings and wondering whether a job was actually remote or just using the word "remote" to get clicks.

All three of us wanted to work remotely. Not because we're lazy. Not because we don't want to work. We just don't understand why working means you have to sit in an office for 8 hours every day. Then get stuck in terrible traffic for another hour or two getting home. By the time you're back home, half your day is gone. And then you do it all over again tomorrow. What about your family? Your kids? Your friends? Your own life?

We wanted to work and still have some time left to actually live. That's why remote work made sense to us. So we built the thing we wanted. Rayan came up with the idea. Pavan and Jhon jumped in. And we started building Remote4Me. No big funding. No fancy startup office. No "revolutionizing the future of work" bullshit. Just three guys trying to build something that would make finding remote jobs less painful.

At first, it was for us. We wanted somewhere we could actually find remote jobs without spending our entire day searching through crap. Then we thought: Why should we keep this to ourselves? There are so many people going through the exact same situation. People getting laid off. People sending hundreds of applications. People getting ghosted. People fighting ATS systems. People wasting hours commuting every day. People who just want to work from home and spend more time with their family.

Some people are just trying to keep their heads above water. Some are trying to pay rent. Some are trying to support their parents. Some have kids at home. Some are simply tired of spending half their life commuting just to come home and do it all again tomorrow. We knew that feeling. We knew how frustrating it was. And honestly, sometimes you just get pissed off and think, "There has to be a better way than this."

So we put the site out there. And people started using it. That was a pretty damn good feeling. Something that started because we were frustrated with our own job search was suddenly helping other people too.

We're Still Working Full-Time 💼

Here's something you should know. We're not sitting in some office working on Remote4Me 12 hours a day. All three of us still have full-time jobs. And we're working as customer support agents. Yep. We're the people answering calls all day. Talking to customers. Solving the same problems again and again. Sometimes dealing with genuinely nice people. Sometimes... well, let's just say not every customer makes your day better. 😂

By the time our workday ends, we're drained. Your brain is already cooked from taking calls all day. You get home and the last thing you sometimes want to do is open your laptop again. You just want to eat, lie down, scroll your phone and switch your brain off for a while. But then you look at the half-finished stuff on Remote4Me and think, "Alright, let's get this damn thing done."

Remote4Me is what we work on after work. Most of the work you see here happens in whatever free time we can find. After our shifts. After dinner. Late at night. On weekends. Whenever we have the energy. Some nights we get loads done. Other nights we're staring at the screen for 20 minutes wondering why the hell we opened the laptop in the first place. 😂

And one of the things we're most serious about is manually reviewing jobs. We're not just throwing random jobs into a database and calling it a job portal. We actually look at the jobs. We review them. We post them. We try to keep the site useful. Could we automate more of it? Absolutely. Will we? Probably. But right now, we're doing a lot of it ourselves because we actually give a damn about what ends up on this site.

And yes, you might notice something. You may see quite a few jobs related to: Customer Support. Customer Success. Operations. And similar roles. There's a simple reason. That's what we know. That's what we have worked in. That's where our own job search started. So naturally, we notice these jobs more. We've sat on the other side of those customer-support calls. We've dealt with the same work crap. We know what people in these roles are actually looking for.

But we're not trying to make Remote4Me a customer-support-only job site. That's not the plan. As we get more time, more resources and hopefully more people helping us, we want to expand into other remote roles too.

Are We Trying To Make Money From This? 💰

Our main goal isn't money. We actually want to help people find remote work. If someone finds their next job through Remote4Me, that's a win. If someone who got laid off finds a job here, even better. If someone saves two hours of commuting every day and gets that time back with their family... That's what we care about.

But we're also not going to bullshit you and pretend websites run for free. Servers cost money. Tools cost money. Everything costs money. So yes, you'll see ads. Yes, we may have sponsored posts. And yes, those things help us keep Remote4Me alive and give us a little pocket money too. That's completely fine. Good intentions don't pay the damn server bill. 😂

We're not embarrassed about that. If the site grows enough to actually make some money, great. We'll use it to keep the thing running, improve it, add more jobs, build better tools and hopefully spend less time worrying about whether the next server bill is going to screw us over. That's just reality.

We're Still Figuring This Out 🛠️

Remote4Me isn't perfect. We're still building. We're still learning. We're going to make mistakes. We'll add things. We'll remove things. We'll break things. We'll fix them. And we'll keep going. We're not going to pretend we have everything figured out.

Sometimes something will work perfectly for three days and then randomly decide to shit itself. That's how building a website goes. 😂 If you find something broken, see a bad job, or have an idea that could make the site better, tell us. We'd rather hear that something is messed up than pretend everything is perfect.
